Get fundamental training in a variety of architecture and construction fields. Our programs here at McFatter Technical College are designed to prepare students for employment in the various industries of Drafting, Electricity, and Welding. We also offer Fork Lift certification in a short course.
Drafting
Program Length: 1500 hours / 15 months full-time; 30 months part-time
Instruction is designed to provide experience in all aspects of this graphic language. Students begin their training by learning drafting principles and techniques using traditional manual drafting boards and tools. Advance to the extensive use of techniques and technology utilized to prepare two-dimensional Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) work using AutoCAD, three dimensional Building Information and Modeling (BIM) drawings using Revit and advanced mechanical design drawings using SolidWorks.
Electricity
Program Length: 1200 hours / 12 months
Get Plugged In! Learn basic electrical principles, residential wiring, commercial wiring, blueprint reading; installation of conduit, and safe work practices. Program content also includes interpreting national and local electrical codes. Special Note: With additional successful testing, the completion of this program may be used as a substitute for the first year of an Electrical Apprenticeship Program. Graduating students are encouraged to pursue taking the Broward County Electrical Journeyman License exam.
Fork Lift Certification
Program Length: 6 hours
Let McFatter Technical College certify you to drive a fork lift through the National Safety Council/FLI Learning Systems, Inc. You will receive classroom and hands-on training. Certification includes operation training definitions from OSHA and NIOSH. Fine tune your operational skills and refresh your understanding of safe fork lift operating procedures. Certificate is valid for 3 years
Welding
Program Length: 1050 hours/10 months full-time; 18 months part-time
The Welding Technology program offers students the necessary skills to enter a challenging and high demand career in the fields of construction, engineering, manufacturing and many more.
Welding Technology – Advanced
Program Length: 750 hours / 7 months full-time; 12 months part-time
If you are ready to enhance your skills in the welding industry, our Welding Technology – Advanced program is for you! This program will refine your skills in gas and electric welding equipment and your work with steel and aluminum. An emphasis will be placed on pipe skills.
