Patient Care Assistant
Patient Care Assistant is for students interested in rapidly earning the credentials and skills necessary to enter the nursing field. Students will prepare for employment as cross-trained nursing assistants and provide foundational knowledge and skills. Students receive training in communication and interpersonal skills, infection control, safety/emergency procedures, promoting residents. independence, and respecting patient rights. The PCA works in the hospital setting as a member of the healthcare team under the direction of the nurse. Duties include taking vital signs and assisting patients with basic tasks.
Electrocardiograph Technology
Program Length: 465 hours/approx. 4 months (full-time)
Students will be taught how to perform a 12-lead EKG, properly maintain diagnostic equipment, recognize normal and abnormal sinus rhythms and monitor patients for cardiovascular disorders. An overview of anatomy and physiology, with emphasis on cardiac and vascular systems is taught along with medical terminology, basic patient care techniques, medical instrumentation, cardiac monitoring and testing and cardiac wellness and rehabilitation.
Phlebotomy Technician Program
Program Length: 165 hours/approximately 15 weeks – online
You will be taught skills that include, but are not limited to; performance of safe and efficient work practices in obtaining adequate and correct blood specimens by capillary or venipuncture while maintaining the integrity of the specimen in relation to the test to be performed, preparing blood smears, labeling specimens accurately, observing safety policies and procedures, emergency procedures including CPR, medical terminology, delivering a variety of clinical specimens to the lab, sorting and recording specimens, centrifuging specimens and preparing collection trays for specimen procurement.
